Cars Toons: Mater's Tall Tales, Hollywood Animation Movie (2010)

Review : All of the Cars Toons follow the same tall tale formula: Mater tells a story of something he has done in the past. In the story, Mater finds himself in an inescapable predicament. When McQueen questions Mater over whether the events in the story actually occurred, Mater responds, "Don't you remember? You was there too!", and continues the story including McQueen's sudden participation. The cartoons end with Mater leaving the scene, often followed by characters or references to the story that was being told, suggesting the story might be real. Each story includes Mater, Lightning McQueen, Mia and Tia (the two red cars that adore Lightning McQueen, although in this case they are portrayed as adoring Mater), and various pit crew cars.

Joanna Lumley's Nile, Hollywood Movie (2010)

Review : In Joanna Lumley’s Nile we watch as ‘one of Britain’s most treasured stars’ whispers and apologises her way along this world famous river. I guess you have to like Joanna Lumley to even consider tuning in, and I found her a tedious narrator as she takes us to various parts of Egypt on this inconclusive journey.

Following the passion for Egyptology in the 1920s, us Brits have always been intrigued by Egypt, and specifically the Nile, which is what inexplicably brings Joanna Lumley to the area. The 50 minutes basically just consists of Lumley trying to be overly nice to locals, whilst the programme desperately attempts to link what this posh woman is doing, to the rites and passages of the ancient Egyptians. Unsurprisingly, it doesn’t wash.

Via lingering camera shots and hackneyed Arabic sounding music, Joanna Lumley’s Nile has tried to attach some mystique and intrigue to the stretch of water. Of course there is intrigue, but we don’t get so much of an informative look at it, more an examination of the minutiae of Lumley’s travelling habits. She’s pleasant and intelligent, but you don’t get a sense of passion or intrigue, which shows in the flimsy material that makes up the show.

Review : Justice Chowdhury was an honest, truthful and justice loving judge. His eye could always pick out the innocent from the guilty. He ordered a smuggler Shanker Singh to death and there made enemies with the smuggler brother Jai Singh and his lawyer Kailashnath. The only blot in his life was his mute daughter Lakshmi whom he could not marry off. Taking advantage of this and with the motive of revenge in this minds, Jai Singh and Kailash sent their own henchman Gopal to trick the justice and marry his daughter. Initially the Justice was very happy and got his daughter married off but later those people began to trouble his daughter. Still he did not bow his head. His enemies next got his son jailed by planting false evidence. A young lad Ramu falls in love with Kailashnath's daughter Rekha. The villains discover that Ramu is actually the son of Justice Choudhary. They poison Ramu's mind against his father...

Review : Bhairava is a film with a habitual subject of a super cop and goons. Though the director made an attempt to show novelty in the theme, it went astray due to the lack of control over the screenplay. At times the scenes of the film cause a notion about the film that it might have been made with a handicam. The protagonist's death defying stunts and the diction in the provincial dialect are good enough to cause wolf whistles from the front bench viewers. The drawn out dialogues of the central character and the ripened discourses of the kid generate annoyance. The comedy segment of the film is an absolute squander.

The effort to consolidate the protagonist's character, limited the left behind characters to the range of buffoonish ones. The female protagonist is subject to sporadic appearances and it seems her character is slotted in for a laid-back cause. The depiction of the antagonist in a new-fangled mode is okay. But, that alone doesn't work for the story.

Review : Bruce Burgess claims to reveal new evidence in Bloodline, the documentary in which he follows amateur archeologist Ben Hammott to Rennes-le-Chateau, in France's Languedoc region where, during the 1890s, Father Bergeron Sauniere supposedly found evidence proving the bloodline theory--evidence immediately suppressed by the Vatican.

Hammott, who seems to be both paranoid and inept, finds clues leading to ancient bottles containing fragile parchment notes which lead to boxes with telltale treasures. Hammott's handling of supposedly priceless relics is stunningly careless. Burgess films his bull-in-china-shop behavior without so much as murmuring, "Hey, be careful with that."

Another important witness, Nicholas Haywood, claims insider knowledge about the illusive Priory of Sion's membership and secrets. He guides Burgess with innuendo-laden nods and glances that seem ludicrous.
